I could not find the strip now where Wally wants to have the nick name Wizzard and Alice calls him instead Lizzard... this is Wallys revange… and yes, he is the Wizzard…

baldeagle, sounds like that company could be Armstrong (Declaring bankruptcy after asbestos lawsuits, around the time frame you mentioned)

This is proper management. I once sat outside my managers office and any time he needed help he just threw something at me. More than once I was asked about someone's project, I found that they were busy / distracted and were behind. Once the status was reported back to my mgr, I was now contacted for status from then on. I took many projects over to keep me from being blamed for a project I did not own. I eventually moved and the person that moved into mt desk just continued where I left.....

as a young engr, i have seen many examples of this. the bad and lazy got promoted, the good and hard working left (like myself) and within a few years the old company went bankrupt b/c their quality of work was no longer worth the amount they were charging.
